I cannot change the way I am, I never really try, God made me different and unique, I never ask him why. If I appear peculiar, There's nothing I can do, You must accept me as I am, As I've accepted you. God made a casting of each life, Then threw the mold away, Each child is different from the rest, Unlike as night from day. So often we will criticize, The things that others do, But, do you know, they do not think, The same as me and you. So God in all his wisdom, Who knows us all by name, He didn't want us to be bored, That's why we're not the same. ~Author Unknown
...Believe in yourself... In the power you have To control your own life, day by day... Believe in the strength That you have deep inside, And your faith will help Show you the way...Believe in tomorrow...And what it will bring...Let a hopeful heart carry you through...For things will work out...If you trust and believe... There’s no limit To what you can do... ~Emily Matthews
I don't want the world to see me, cause I don't think that they'd understand. When everything's made to be broken, I just want you to know who I am. - Goo Goo Dolls, Iris
I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do. ~Edward Everett Hale
There was a child went forth every
day
Obviously different from the rest
As a toddler she watched as her brother would dance
Wondering how she could join in his fun
She refused to be left out so she started to roll
Creating her own little dance
And so began her journey to fit in
Even though she obviously stood out
As a child she endured surgeries and daily stretching
All to insure an independent future
The smell of sterile hospital hallways
The sounds of a saw cutting a cast
The sight of doctors in long white coats
All became very familiar to her
As she grew older the appointments decreased
And she was able to experience new activities
She was doing things doctors said she never would
She was proving them wrong every day
She grew up in an athletic family
Who love the outdoors and sports
They always encouraged her to participate
Even if others thought she could not
They were always the ones pushing her to say, “I can”
And they never said, “You can’t”
Her brother always helped her push her boundaries
No matter how dangerous people thought it was
With him she learned what others thought she couldn’t
The excitement of jumping too high on a trampoline
The thrill of riding a wave on a surfboard
The rush of luging down the hill of their neighborhood
But that was the thing
Her family never treated her like she was different or fragile
It’s what made her what she is today
Independent, confident, and prepared for anything.
